Thinking about another baby?
Contemplating another pregnancy after experiencing a loss can trigger a range of emotions, from excitement to fear to gratitude. There is no right or wrong answer as to when you should become pregnant again. It is a decision that should be made taking into account where each partner is in their grief, as well as the physical health of the mother. You should always consult with your doctor to discuss whether your body has healed enough to become pregnant again.
If you have made the decision to have another baby, you probably have many questions about the new road you are on and how to deal with the unexpected ups and downs that come with it.
Experiencing a loss takes away the blissful ignorance that you once knew, replacing it with feelings of uncertainty. Decisions such as when to announce a new pregnancy, whether to choose a new care provider, when to set up the nursery, and whether to use your deceased baby’s things are very personal decisions that only you and your partner can make. Take things one day at a time.
If you are currently pregnant or are hoping to become pregnant soon, consider Utah Share offers a Pregnancy After Loss support page on Facebook, where you will have a safe place to talk more in depth about the things you are feeling.
